Tracking Your PriceGuide Estimator Events: GA, Meta, GTM & Hotjar Guide

As an agency, one of the fastest ways to prove value is to show your clients exactly how many leads, clicks, and conversions their pricing estimator is generating. That’s where events tracking comes in.

Instead of just embedding a PriceGuide estimator and calling it a day, you can set up tracking that feeds directly into their analytics and ad platforms. This way, every time someone engages with the estimator, your client sees the results—and you look like the hero who made it happen.

Step 1: Setting Up Tracking Tools for Your Clients

As the agency, it’s your job to make sure your clients’ estimators aren’t just sitting on their websites—they’re actually feeding real data into the platforms they already use. Here’s how you set it up on their behalf:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

  1. Head to your client’s PriceGuide dashboard → Account → Tracking.

2. Paste in their GA4 Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX).

3. Once added, GA4 will automatically log key custom priceguide events such as:

  • Viewed
  • Question Answered
  • Submitted

This means your client’s marketing team (or you) can see exactly how prospects are interacting with the estimator in GA4 reports.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel

  1. Grab the client’s Pixel ID from their Facebook Events Manager.
  2. Add it into PriceGuide’s Tracking settings (or directly into their site header if you prefer).

3. Map estimator actions to standard Meta events like:

  • Lead
  • CompleteRegistration

This lets you build custom audiences, optimize campaigns, and show clear ROI inside Ads Manager.

Google Tag Manager (GTM)

  1. Drop the client’s GTM container snippet into the PriceGuide Tracking tab.

2. GTM acts as your central control tower—you can push GA4, Meta, Hotjar, and even custom tags all from one place.

This setup keeps things clean, future-proof, and makes ongoing management much easier.

Hotjar

  1. Add the client’s Hotjar tracking code or ID via GTM or directly in the PriceGuide Tracking area.

2. With Hotjar connected, you can provide clients with heatmaps, session recordings, and behavioral insights—gold for CRO conversations.

It’s a fantastic way to show them how real prospects move through the estimator.

Step 2: Pre-Defined Estimator Events

One of the best parts about PriceGuide is that you don’t have to invent the wheel—your client’s estimator already comes with a set of built-in events that fire automatically.

Here are the events available out-of-the-box:

Event Name What It Means for Your Client
Viewed Someone has landed on the estimator—perfect for remarketing audiences.
Learn More Clicked (Answer) A user clicked “Learn More” for a specific answer—shows deeper intent and interest.
Learn More Clicked (Question) A user clicked “Learn More” for a question—great for seeing where prospects need more education.
Question Answered Each time a user answers and clicks Next—ideal for tracking drop-off points.
Service Chosen If the estimator includes multiple services, this logs which service they selected—fantastic for segmented remarketing.
Submitted The big one—user has completed and submitted the estimator (conversion event).
Start Over Clicked User clicked “Start Over”—helps you spot friction or confusion in the flow.

Step 3: Viewing & Using Event Data

Once events are firing, here’s how you can use each platform as a quick overview:

In GA4

  • Go to Reports → Engagement → Events.

  • Find the built-in estimator events (Viewed, Question Answered, Submitted, etc.).

  • Use them to show clients:

    • How many prospects started vs. completed the estimator.

    • Where drop-off points occur (great for CRO conversations).

    • Which traffic sources drive the most completions.

In Meta Business Tools

  • Head to Events Manager → Pixel to see estimator actions tied to standard Meta events.

  • Build remarketing audiences like:

    • People who viewed but didn’t submit.

    • People who clicked “Learn More” (showing higher intent).

  • Optimize campaigns by tracking conversions against Lead or CompleteRegistration events.

In GTM

  • Use Preview Mode to confirm all estimator events are firing correctly into GA4, Meta, Hotjar, and any other tools you’ve connected.

  • This is your testing ground before showing clients live dashboards.

In Hotjar

  • Review session recordings and heatmaps to literally watch how prospects move through the estimator.

  • Bring these insights to client meetings—e.g., “Notice how 40% of users clicked ‘Learn More’ on this question? Let’s expand that content to build more trust.”
