How to Set Minimum and Maximum Values for Number Inputs

When you’re building an estimator, sometimes you want to make sure people don’t type in something wild — like “0 rooms” or “9999 windows.”

Good news: you can now set minimum and maximum numbers for any number-input question.

This keeps your pricing accurate and helps users answer with confidence.

Here’s how to use it.

Step 1: Click the Settings (Cog) Icon on Your Question

Find the question where you want people to type in a number (like “How many rooms?” or “How many lights are you installing?”).

Then click the cog icon on the right-hand side.

Step 2: Scroll Down to “Multiply Options”

Inside the settings panel, scroll until you see Multiply Options.

      Check the box that says:

      Use number field

This tells priceguide that this question should allow a typed number.

Step 3: Set Your Minimum and Maximum Values

Once “Use number field” is ticked, you’ll now see:

        • • Minimum value (optional)

        • • Maximum value (optional)

You can now type in your preferred range.

        For example:

        •  Minimum value: 1
(So nobody can enter 0 or a negative number)

        •  Maximum value: 20
(If you want to cap the amount)

This keeps the input realistic and avoids results that don’t make sense.

When Should You Use Min and Max Values?

        Here are some great examples:

        • • Number of rooms → Min 1, Max 20

        • • Number of windows → Min 1, Max 50

        • • Number of employees for IT support → Min 1

        • • Number of lights for installation → Min 1, Max 200

It’s all about guiding users to give helpful answers.

        That’s It!

Your number field now has smart boundaries, helping people choose the right inputs and keeping your pricing accurate.
